I am often told I must have a huge wardrobe, given my job and all.  The truth is my wardrobe is quite simple.  I have 2 children… Anyone with kids knows that the window of daily styling is a small one, often involving sticky fingers tugging at our shirt tails.

A well planned wardrobe is the key to maximising the outfits you can create without the fuss.

Capsule wardrobes are popular in blog land and for good reason.  You have a select number of items that all work back together.

Keeping colours simple and compatible is the trick with this plan.  I find this easy due to my love of black, white and denim.  But I could easy add coloured pieces to work with this selection from pastels to bright red or khaki.

In this lay out I have covered most possible styling scenarios from school and errand runs in black jeans white shirt and denim jacket to evening in black dress pants, white shirt and tuxedo jacket; lunch with friends – denim shirt, Aline skirt.  The options are endless.

I created this lay out on Polyvore. Sadly Balmain is out of my budget so that wont be the exact jacket I purchase but the inspiration is there to keep me focused on my sartorial plans!

My Autumn Wish List

My Autumn Wish List
I recently discovered the wonderful world of Polyvore.  For those who haven’t had the joy, it is an App that allows you to play Fashion Editor and create style boards like the one above.  It plays middleman between you and most of the international online stores.  It’s fraught with danger for those unable to control their purse strings but for me, who finds the amount of choice online overwhelming and more often a bit boring, it gives the ability to narrow the selection to a visually pleasing list. If you love fashion mags, you’ll love Polyvore.
Professionally it is a brilliant resource.  I can use it to plan looks for shoots or for private clients, create a good-looking reference for them to shop with.
It appears to only have one flaw and that is the absence of menswear.
My Autumn Wishlist is my personal board.  Create your own or email me a picture of yourself with a few style details and I’ll create one for you.

Lady Luck

Lady Luck
Dressing like a lady has always felt like childhood dress ups for me but there is a time and place for a special dress and there are some beautifully ladylike dresses available this season. The dress above is a great example of the luxurious silks and rich tones designers opting for.
This style is perfect for our enviable waisted hour-glass figured friends. Team it with some pointy pumps and bright lips and start acting like a lady.
